3 Wireless Broadband
3 (or ‘Three’) has a great range of Wireless Broadband plans catering for the casual user up to the heavy user – and just about every one in between! Their lowest plan offers a generous 1GB for only $15 per month and their highest plan gives 7GB of data for only $49 per month. They have additional plans at $29 and $39 per month, so their range really captures almost every budget.
3 gives you the choice of getting a modem for zero upfront as part of a 24 month plan or buying it outright and going no contract. On the 2GB ($29), 6GB ($39) and 7GB ($49) plans the modem is free and on the 1GB ($15) and 3GB ($29) plans there is an additional charge of $5 per month for the modem. You have the choice of a USB stick – in black or white – or a Card for a PCMCIA slot.
If you want no contract you just need to purchase a modem outright from Three on their website for $129. There are not as many plans available on the no contract option and the 6GB plan is $10 per month more than the 24 month plan version.
You can also bundle your Mobile Phone with 3 – they have a great range of plans and phones.
There are some great benefits to going with 3, but it will depend on where you use Wireless Broadband as to whether it is the best option for you. If you use it outside the 3 Broadband Zones then you will roam onto the Telstra network and be charged at $1.65 per MB (you get the first 2MB free per month when on Telstra’s network). 3 has their own 3G networkcovering the greater metropolitan areas of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Geelong. The 3G network provides broadband speeds for Wireless Internet. If you leave the 3 Broadband Zones, then you will roam on the Telstra network, but will pay $1.65 per MB for any data usage.
