Dodo is the first Australian provider to offer free ADSL2+. But eveyone knows there’s no such thing as a free lunch, so is it really worth it? It could be if you are on a very tight budget or an extremely light internet user. The free ADSL2+ plan comes with 75MB in peak and 75MB in offpeak. If you exceed this allowance then you are charged at 18c per MB until you reach the maximum monthly fee which is $29.99 in this example. This will give you about another 166MB to use. Speeds are slowed down after this point.
We suggest that the $9.99 ADSL2+ plan for 500MB peak and 500MB off peak would be far better value than the free plan, unless you download very, very little.
There are some great value, budget ADSL2+ plan on offer. In case you are confused looking at MB instead of GB for the data allowance: 1000MB = 1GB. So the $29.99 plan offers 5GB in peak and 100GB in off peak. Off peak is from 1am until 12.59pm – so if you use the internet during the night or in the morning, then you get a remarkable amount of data to use. All Dodo ADSL2+ plans have to be bundled with a Dodo Home Phone Plan.

If ADSL2+ isn’t available in your area, then there are some great value ADSL plans available. One of the most unique plans on the market is the 256Kbps with UNLIMITED data allowance for just $39.90 per month. Very few companies offer Unlimited data. On the faster 1.5Mbps and 8Mbps plans the data allowance is also generous.

Some other interesting information relating to Dodo’s plans:
On-peak times are 1:00pm to 12:59am and Off-peak are 1:00am to 12:59pm. Once you have reached the data allowance for your plan, you will be charged an excess data fee of 18c per MB until the maximum plan cost is reached.
Once the maximum plan cost has been reached, your upload/download speed will be reduced to 64Kbps and you will not be charged any excess data charges.
