It’s the LG KF750 Secret with an XBox and 3 month free access fee! Click here for more details >>

This Deal Has Now Finished

You have to join up on the ‘yes’ $49 Cap for 24 months. In all the advertising now they tell you this means that the total minimum cost is $1,176 over 24 months and that cancellation fees apply. True, but boring.

You get a super cool Sony Ericsson W980 Walkman mobile phone for $0 upfront as well as a bonus Xbox 360!

The Plan

The $49 ‘yes’ plan from Optus is a good one too. For your $49 per month you get $330 of calls to any mobile network or standard landlines. Once you use that allowance up, calls revert to the standard call rate (of 80 cents per min plus 35 cent flagfall) but then then get another $350 of Optus2Optus value.

The plan is for a 24 month contract if you want to get both the Sony Ericsson W980 and Xbox 360 paying nothing upfront.

The Phone

The Sony Ericsson W980 has some great features including:

8GB Walkman music player

3.2 Megapixel Camera

Very light – weighs only 100gm

Stereo speakers

FM Radio

Dual Band for use in Asia Pacific and Europe

Stereo Bluetooth

An Extra Bonus!

There is also an extra bonus for this already great deal. All new and existing customers who sign up for the Sony Ericsson W980 with a bonus Xbox deal on the $49 Optus cap, get a bonus $50 online sign up credit! You only get it if you sign up online! It may take up to 3 months to appear, but will come as a credit on your bill.

UPDATED DEAL

The Optus XBox Deal is now available with the LG KF750. Click here to read more about the latest Optus XBox Deal >>

So What’s The Deal?

On a $49 Cap you expect to get a really good phone for free – right? And the Sony Ercisson C902 is just that. It has a 5 Mega Pixel camera with Sony Ericcson’s Cyber Shot technology – it looks good and is easy to use.

Now Throw In An Xbox 360 Arcade!

That is the awesome bundle deal that Optus has put together with the C902 on a $49 Cap. They’re throwing in the Xbox 360 Arcade with Sega Superstars Tennis, 5 arcade games, a wireless controller and 256MB of memory – valued at about $300!

This offer is also available to existing Optus mobile customers. Just click below to go to the Optus website and if your plan has finished you can upgrade and get the Sony Ericsson C902 and the Xbox 360!

Now Throw in $50 or $100 Credit for Signing Up Online!

As if the deal wasn’t already way ahead of the competition, Optus is still offering a $50 credit for signing up online on the $49 Cap. Sign up on the $79 Cap or an Optus Timeless Plan and you’ll get $100 bonus credit!

Click Here to Sign Up on the Optus Website

So how does the competition stack up? Not very well. Virgin is offering the C902 for free on a $45 Cap plan, but no Xbox and no bonus credit. Three doesn’t give the C902 away for free until the $69 Cap. Also no Xbox, but you do get a $50 online bonus credit. It’s nowhere near as good as the Optus bundle deal.
If you want more information about the Optus Cap or Timeless plans or details on the C902 or you want to go ahead and order before stocks run out, then click the buy now button below and you’ll be taken to the Optus website.

PLEASE BE AWARE: Vodafone has now removed the $114 Unlimited Cap and has replaced it with new plans.

There are some striking similarities between the Optus and Vodafone Unlimited plans, but a few differences which make these plans by Vodafone great value if you are a high mobile user. In particular Vodafone is very generous with their data amounts – 2GB per month. Or you can also opt for an unlimited Blackberry service.

So What’s The Vodafone Unlimited Cap Offer?

There are three plans:

So how good are the plans for the HTC Dream? We’re impressed and we think there is a good array of plans which will cater for the light to medium mobile phone users up to the heavy users.

‘yes’ Internet Cap Plans

The HTC Dream is available on the ‘yes’ $59 Internet Cap and ‘yes’ $79 Internet Cap + Unlimited Text plans. These plans are the cheapest option for getting a high powered PDA mobile phone like the HTC Dream. There are additional handset repayments to get the HTC Dream on these plans:

$59 Cap – $15 per month over 24 months or $51 over 12 months.

$79 Cap – $13 per month over 24 months or $49 over 12 months.

The ‘yes’ Internet Caps includes:

$350 of included call and SMS value each month on the $59 Cap and $550 of included call value plus unlimited sms on the $79 Cap

500MB of data usage on the $59 Cap and 700MB of data on the $79 Cap

Optus ‘yes’ Time – free 20 minute calls to other Optus GSM mobiles from 8pm to midnight

Free 5 minute calls to other mobiles on your Optus account

Included in your Capped plan are standard voice calls – local, national and mobile and standard local and international SMS.

Visit the Optus website to sign up for the HTC Dream on a $59 or $79 Cap

‘yes’ Internet Timeless Plans

FIrstly, the ‘yes’ Timeless $99 Internet Plan, which must be taken in conjunction with the $14.95 Internet Pack – so effectively you pay $113.95 per month. For this you get Unlimited* standard calls and SMS within Australia plus a huge 1.5GB of data. The handset repayments for the HTC Dream over 24 months are $9 or $45 over 12 months.

The second option is the ‘yes’ Timeless $129 Internet Plan, which includes the unlimited* calls and SMS as well as an incredible 3GB of data. AAPT has been rumoured for some time to be bringing out Naked DSL, but it hasn’t happened yet. And of course Telstra is holding on and defending their landline network – and charging everyone $30 per month for the privilege of being connected.

Bundle Naked DSL with your Mobile Phone

Optus has taken a different strategy from iinet and Internode, who are focusing on providing VoIP services to replace the landline. Optus is offering their best deal if you bundle your mobile phone with your Naked DSL service. With a great range of Cap and Timeless mobile plans, that will be great for you if you just want to make calls from your mobile. If you don’t bundle your mobile, then there is a $248 set up fee plus modem costs for joining Optus Naked DSL. That s hardly worth it, so if you want to get Optus NDSL, then you really need to combine your mobile too.

The bundled plans start at $49.99 for 7GB and $59.99 for 15GB with free set up and a free basic modem. Uploads and downloads are counted in the data allowance, but the data can be used any time – there are no peak and off peak times. There is also a $99.99 plan for 30GB, which includes free set up and a free Wi-Fi modem if you bundle.

Sign Up Your Mobile With Optus First

If you do it all over the phone at one time, you’ll miss out on the Online Bonus Credit.

Optus has now launched the highly anticipated HTC Dream – the first Google Android Mobile Phone launched outside the United States.

If you’re a user of the Google search engine, Gmail, You Tube, Google Maps or Google Calendar, then the HTC Dream helps you bring all of that functionality onto you mobile phone. There’s one-touch access to all of these Google services.

The phone has a 3.2 inch touch screen which is fast and responsive. You can customise the home screen to alert you of email, SMS or Instant Messaging. As the picture to the right shows, there is a full QWERTY keyboard, which is consistent with many of the popular PDA/mobile phone designs from HTC over recent years. The HTC Dream also has a microSD (SD 2.0 compatible) expansion slot up to 8GB.

The Internet capabilities of the HTC Dream are fantastic. It runs on the 2100MHz 3G network for fast data speeds. You can also seamlessly transition onto available Wi-Fi networks so your data usage comes from the Wi-Fi network and not your phone’s 3G network.

One of the most exciting developments of the HTC Dream is the Google Android operating platform. The touch screen functionality operates extremely well. The Android Market is the place to download new applications to your Google Android phone. All Android applications are open source and totally free. Head over to the Android Home Page if you’re interested in learning more.
